Purpose of a Beta Team

In a nutshell, a beta release is a version of the software that is not quite ready for general release, a version that we would like you, the experienced user[3], to try out.

The beta team has access to the developers so, together, we can improve the quality of Courseplanner.

You can also help by visiting the wiki[4] and reporting typos, factual errors and so on.

Rule of Beta testing

As with every program we need a certain set of rules, this will help us all to move the software forward. This will also ensure that we have the best beta team.

  1. Be active, report bugs, try every features.
  2. Don't be scared to ask silly questions, if you think it, others also do.
  3. Always have the latest Beta version[5]
  4. Be an active member on the forum[6].
    1. Always tell us what version of the beta you are using.
    2. Tell us what version of windows you are using.
  5. Remember that, by definition, a beta release has bugs, so do not be frustrated or upset because the software is not working as you might expect.
  6. We are not mind readers, everyone can download the latest beta version. So if you want to participate, drop us a message in the forum[6] so we know who to send a registration code to.
  7. Have fun! remember that we are all working together to create a better software. Been grumpy will not help.

The reward of been a beta tester

  1. Been able to use the latest and greatest version of Courseplanner.
  2. Been able to request certain features.
  3. Every, (active[7]!), beta testers will receive a free registration code.
  4. Members of the Beta user group will receive a free registration code, (after a short while).

  2. Signup on the forum[6] and participate.
    • Report bugs, odd behavior, (things that work, but that are just plain weird).

  3. As a beta release is only 'active' for a certain amount of days you need to check the forum[6] or the site[5] for new versions.
