- Draw the world map (photo) - You can choose to have a white background or draw a satellite map of the earth, (from NASA)[1].
- Draw world map (outline) - draw an outline of the ear with all the main boundaries, (geographic boundaries only).
- Display rivers - display the rivers.
- Display the map scale - display the scale on the bottom left corner of the map.

Courseplanner uses 2 types of photo realistic maps[1], a far one with less details and a closeup one with more details.
As the detailed map uses a lot more memory, to save system resources, only a certain amount is loaded at any one time. You can select how may detailed sub-maps can be loaded at the same time, but having them all in memory will hardly make a difference, (as your system resources will be slowed by that load). The default is 50, (out of 648 sub-maps).
